Record year underway for Solent Stevedores as contract extended with MSC Cruises until 2019

It's been a busy start to the year for the Cruise Team at Solent Stevedores. Gearing up for a record 450 cruise calls in 2018, we are delighted to announce that we have been confirmed to supply in-port stevedoring and turnaround services to MSC Cruises until 2019

The services provided will including mooring and baggage handling to MSC Magnifica which is homeporting in Southampton for between April – October and sailing on itineraries to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean. Two other ships, MSC Preziosa and MSC Meraviglia, will be calling to the Port on Transit itineraries, and our services will culminate in March 2019 with the naming ceremony of their latest mega-ship – MSC Belissima – capable of carrying up to 5700 passengers.

Solent Stevedores’ cruise business has grown significantly in recent years and the company now handle 86% of the cruise vessels calling to Southampton.

Operations for 2018 are well underway: it is estimated that Solent Stevedores will provide in-port services to some 450 cruise ships, 1.8 million cruise passenger, handle 2.7 million suitcases, and load in excess of 100,000 tonnes of ship’s stores, cementing the company’s position as one of top cruise stevedoring suppliers globally.
