A key strategic position for the UK and Europe - with excellent sea, road, rail links and air connections

Our Location

Solent Stevedores operate within the Port of Southampton, one of the UK’s busiest and most important ports, handling in excess of 40 million tonnes of cargo and over 250 cruise vessels annually.

Southampton enjoys excellent sea, road, rail and air connections to all parts of the UK and beyond.

The port is in a key strategic position close to the main international shipping lanes and less than 100 nautical miles from mainland Europe.

Vessels using Southampton are able to take advantage of a deep water channel offering a minimum draft of 12.6M, with a maximum tidal range of 4.5M.  A unique double tide provides rising water for 17 out of every 24 hours.  There are no locks, air draught or other impediments to the free movement of vessels.

The Southampton Bulk Terminal, operated by Solent Stevedores, sits alongside deep water, providing a wide range of options for vessel accommodation and cargo handling.

A minimum of 11.7 metres of water, at chart datum, is available at berths 107-109 and 10.2 metres at the adjacent King George V Dock.

In excess of 1,000 metres of quay space is also available.

The Bulk Terminal is located within 1 mile of Dock Gate 20 and from here it is just a short distance to the UK ’s motorway network via M271/M27/M3.  In addition a rail transfer facility, situated immediately adjacent to the Bulk Terminal allows easy transfer of bulk cargoes and containers to the UK rail network.

Southampton is also the UK’s premier cruise port offering 4 dedicated terminals with a capability to accept all size cruise ships, including the new generation of very large vessels up to 350 metres in length.
