As one of the country’s busiest and most successful deep-water ports, Southampton is a natural choice for all major cruise operators with facilities to handle the worlds largest cruise ships. Its natural deep-water harbour and unique double tide allow unrestricted access for any vessel.
Solent Stevedores provide baggage, stores handling and support services to Cruise Ships across 4 terminals.
With the recent expansion of the Bulk Terminal site and introduction of new equipment, Solent Stevedores has been able to offer a more comprehensive level of service to non bulk customers.
With a wide range of equipment and a fully trained, experienced and flexible work force, Solent Stevedores is well placed to meet the demands of all types of project or general cargo requirements.
Solent Stevedores was chosen to provide stevedoring services to Huelin Renouf when the company relocated their Channel Island container operation from Portsmouth to Southamptonin January 2009.
Working out of a new dedicated terminal at Berth 45 - Eastern Docks, the operation has proved to be a great success, leading to the recent introduction of a second vessel and an expanded five day per week service.
Solent Stevedores starts 2013 with key appointment
Solent Stevedores has started 2013 with the key appointment of Ian Jacobs as Managing Director.
Having spent the last 15 years working in a number of senior positions within the Southampton Port community, Ian joined Solent Stevedores in September 2009 as General Manager. Ian said
"I am delighted to be taking on this role at such a dynamic time for the business. The values and culture of the company have been the very foundations which have enabled us to grow significantly over the last 12 years.
With operations in the Port of Southampton, the Port of Jersey and on the River Thames in London, we are fortunate to have a very strong and capable team and I am looking forward to continuing the success by building on current relationships and developing new ones. "

Almost 500 guests from the maritime bulk industry worldwide gathered on Monday, 14th November, to salute the bulk industry’s finest at the Hilton Hotel, Antwerp.
Solent Stevedores was delighted to win the Customer Care Award sponsored by Logsys and were 1 of only 2 UK winners of the 21 international categories. Ian Jacobs, General Manager at Solent Stevedores commented:
